Moving Beyond the Classroom: Shipping Working Code with Davao City’s IT Team
September 11, 2026
Key Takeaways
- The Collaboration: Nuxify led and conducted a hands-on 5-day EVM development sprint in partnership with Davao City’s City Information Technology Center (CITC), alongside ETHPH and the Davao DeFi Community.
- The Approach: Moving away from standard lecture-based workshops, Nuxify structured the sessions as an active dev environment focused on real implementation, debugging, and functional application development.
- The Outcome: 10 local government developers successfully onboarded into the Ethereum ecosystem, establishing a practical model for public-private tech R&D in Davao City.
Overview
Most enterprise technical workshops measure success by the volume of content covered or the number of slides presented. We prefer to measure it by what actually gets built.
We recently wrapped an intensive five-day Blockchain & EVM Development Workshop in partnership with the City Government of Davao’s City Information Technology Center (CITC), powered by Nuxify alongside ETHPH and the Davao DeFi Community.
Rather than running a high-level survey of blockchain fundamentals, the objective was strictly practical: equip public-sector developers with the hands-on engineering experience needed to build, test, and deploy functional applications on the Ethereum EVM stack for local government service integration.
The Execution: From Classroom to Dev Room
Instead of a passive setup where a trainer lectures to a room of attendees, the sessions were structured as an open, collaborative development environment. Trainers and participants worked side-by-side—writing code, reviewing logic, encountering implementation roadblocks, and debugging issues in real time.
[ Day 1: Implementation & System Architecture ]

[ Days 2–4: Solidity, EVM Frameworks, Smart Contracts & Integration ]

[ Day 5: Deployment & Functional MVP Validation ]
- Practical Orientation: The curriculum skipped standard conceptual overviews and moved directly into implementation mechanics—evaluating where decentralized state machines make technical sense, understanding execution constraints, and setting up clean local environments.
- Applied Development: The team progressed through Solidity, smart contract architecture, test networks, and client integration.
- Outcome-Driven Delivery: By the final day, participants weren't just reviewing code samples—they were actively writing logic and deploying working components within a test environment.
Why Hands-On Execution Matters
There is a fundamental difference between understanding how smart contracts function on paper and having the confidence to open an IDE, write custom logic, handle stack-specific errors, and connect the components into an working output.
Through this workshop, ten developers from the City Government of Davao actively onboarded into the Ethereum development ecosystem.
This collaboration provides a clear blueprint for local technology initiatives:
Industry supplies production standards, frameworks, and domain expertise.
Government provides real operational problems, domain context, and public service opportunities.
Community maintains connection to the broader global ecosystem, ensuring continued technical growth.
Local government engineering teams are moving past exploring what decentralized technology can theoretically do. They are learning how to build and maintain it themselves—and that is the most sustainable foundation for regional innovation.
